AECT Standards

Introduction

My experience in the M.S. in Learning Design and Technology program at the University of South Florida has helped me develop a more intentional approach to solving learning and performance problems. Throughout the program, I have learned to move beyond simply presenting information and instead consider the learner, the task, the environment, and the evidence needed to guide design decisions. This E-Portfolio documents that growth through selected projects aligned with the five AECT standards: Content Knowledge, Content Pedagogy, Learning Environments, Professional Knowledge and Skills, and Research. Together, these artifacts demonstrate how I have applied instructional theory, technology, assessment, research, and project management to authentic educational and workplace needs.

Standard 1: Content Knowledge is demonstrated through projects that required me to create, use, evaluate, and manage instructional technologies and processes. My Digital Media and Learning project combined learning theory with a technology-supported communication strategy, while my Adobe Captivate training module transformed complex reservation procedures into a structured multimedia experience. My criterion-referenced assessment and project-management plan further demonstrate my ability to evaluate instructional materials and organize the people, tools, and processes needed to achieve defined goals.

Standard 2: Content Pedagogy reflects my ability to connect instructional content with appropriate teaching and learning strategies. In the Captivate reservation module, I organized procedural information into a clear instructional sequence supported by narration, visuals, interaction, and assessment. My motivational design proposal applied Keller’s ARCS Model to evaluate an existing workplace training process and recommend a more engaging, relevant, and confidence-building approach. My custom-coded Interactive Media portfolio also demonstrates how I managed technology and digital resources to present learning products in an organized online environment.

Standard 3: Learning Environments is represented through artifacts designed to improve how learners access, experience, and apply information. My multimedia training module created a guided environment for student organization leaders, while the custom-coded portfolio supported clear access to multiple digital projects. The evaluation plan in my motivational design proposal used several forms of evidence to determine how a future learning environment could be improved.

Standard 4: Professional Knowledge and Skills reflects my growth as a collaborator, project leader, reflective practitioner, and assessment designer. My group research proposal required collaboration in reviewing literature and planning a study. My project-management work demonstrates leadership in coordinating workplace training and communication, while my motivational design and measurement projects show how reflection and evaluation can support continuous improvement.

Standard 5: Research demonstrates my ability to review literature, apply research methods, and use evidence to inform instructional decisions. Through theoretical analysis, a quasi-experimental research proposal, and formal assessment evaluation, I strengthened my ability to connect research with practice.

Collectively, these standards represent the knowledge and skills I am developing as an emerging learning designer. They also support my goal of creating clear, practical, and research-informed learning experiences for healthcare, higher education, and corporate settings
